I recently found some great pictures of two past Hottie McDotties who, when I originally made their entries, didn’t have many pictures readily available on the Internet.

There’s not much else to say, so without further ado, here are some wonderful photos that have languished on my desktop far too long.

28805030774639ek0Jonathan Groff is a Broadway star most well-known for his portrayal of Melchior in Spring Awakening (pictured above).  This past summer he played Claude in Hair in Central Park, but chose not to stay in the cast when it went to Broadway (the role was taken over by previous Hottie McDottie, Gavin Creel).  This summer, he plays a hippie in Ang Lee’s film, Taking Woodstock.

Why He’s More Than Just Eye Candy:  He has a really great voice, and is a pretty good actor as well (I really like his performance as Melchior, and apparently so did a lot of people; he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for the role).  It was a really complex role that called for an onstage sex scene complete with nudity.  All that, eight times a week, in front of a live audience.  He also had a role on the soap opera, One Life to Live, and experienced quite the death scene – his character overdoses on drugs, which causes him to have a heart attack and crash his car.  Whoa.  Before his Spring Awakening success, he was also a counselor at a theatre camp, and taught kids acting.

Here’s a good video of him and the other male cast members of Spring Awakening performing “The B**ch of Living” on Letterman.
