True, Jude Law as of late hasn’t been too attractive (a receding hairline and a fondness for sleeping with the nanny severely decrease a person’s hotness).  However, I was watching The Talented Mr. Ripley the other day and was reminded of how attractive he was just a few years ago.  He also appeared as a robot gigolo in Spielberg’s Artificial Intelligence:  A.I., and had roles in Cold Mountain, Road to Perdition, Alfie, and The Aviator, in which he played iconic swashbuckler/ladies man, Errol Flynn.

Why He’s More Than Just Eye Candy:  He has a pretty impressive body of work, with a few Oscar nominated films and even more critically lauded films.  He himself was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role for Cold Mountain, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Talented Mr. Ripley (which I think he definitely deserved, as the film was less enjoyable after his untimely demise).  This year, he plays Dr. Watson in Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, and is one of the four actors to play the role of Tony in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (a.k.a. Heath Ledger’s last film).
