Mika (a.k.a. Michael Holbrook Penniman) is a musician, born in Lebanon to an American father and a Lebanese mother. Many may know him for his recent album, Life in Cartoon Motion, which featured the singles, “Grace Kelly” and “Love Today.” This year, he will release an EP, Songs for Sorrow, and an as-yet unnamed LP.
Why He’s More Than Just Eye Candy: He was trained in opera, has a three-and-a-half octave range, and sounds a lot like Freddie Mercury of Queen (he also has Mercury’s flamboyant, crazy flair for performance). He plays the piano and writes his own music. I definitely think he’s an artist to watch in the coming years, and I am certainly a fan.
Here’s the music video for “Grace Kelly.”
