It’s true: Gavin Creel plays for the other team. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t be cheering in the stands. He’s a cutie patootie, and has a terrific voice, currently on display in Hair on Broadway (he plays the lead hippie, Claude). Other roles include Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Jean-Michel in a revival of La Cage aux Folles. Aside from Broadway, he played Bert in Mary Poppins on the West End, and had a role in the very adorable Eloise films on ABC. He has also released a CD, GoodTimeNation.
Why He’s More Than Just Eye Candy: He was nominated for a Best Actor Tony in 2002 for his role as Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie. He also writes and performs his own music (hence the CD). He’s become one of the bigger male figures on Broadway.
Plus, boy can he sing. Here’s a video of him (in the hat), with the cast of Hair, singing “Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In” at the Defying Inequality Broadway Concert.
